It is that time of year again: in late October the folks over at the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) released its results for a survey asking drivers and other industry stakeholders the biggest concerns they have regarding the trucking industry. Here are the results.

Methodology

The methods by which they obtain the numbers are the same as they were for last year: each participant has six points and can rate their number one, two, and three issues, this time from a list of 26. Turnout was slightly lower last year, about 3,700 in total, so 22,200 points were to be divided. The one with the most points had an index score of 100, and everything below that had an index score of how many points it got in comparison to number one.

An interesting twist ATRI should do, if we may be so bold to suggest it, is to have fifteen points for each participant, and for them to pick the top issues from one to five. That would make for a more detailed approach.

With the economy being the number one issue for two years in a row (for 2022 it was fuel prices, which is now no longer even amongst the top ten!), it will be interesting to see if it can pull a hat trick for 2025.
